Fall cards

Ginkgo leaves and persimmons are my new greeting card designs. They can be found at Moonbeams or by contacting me.

Union Studio recently opened another pretty store. It is called The Lobby by Union Studio and is located in the MADE building on Delmar. The new store offers locally made art, bakery goods, and books. A common space can be used for reading, relaxing, and attending author presentations. Eight of my gift enclosure designs are available for purchase there. Check it out!

Plein air

 

Last Saturday I participated in the Paint Webster plein air event. (Plein air means outdoors.) The weather was beautiful so it was a perfect morning to sit outside and paint. I chose to set up in Lorraine Davis Park and paint the lovely Bluestar flowers that were blooming. 

About sixty artists entered the event. In the afternoon, there was a nice reception and awards were given. I enjoyed meeting the other artists, many who specialized in plein air painting. I didn't win a prize but felt rewarded because the whole day was such a very fun experience.

All the paintings are on display at the Webster Arts gallery until June 14th.

(Gouache is an opaque watercolor paint.)

Easter

Last week I attended a Psyanky egg decorating workshop at Webster Arts. The instructor, Lisa Picker, was a wonderful teacher and all the students left with pretty eggs. She sent us home with a kistka tool, beeswax, and dyes so I also made red and yellow ones. I'm glad I learned a fun new craft!

Early spring

Our snowdrops and crocus are blooming now! I wanted to make a card to celebrate. After scanning a print I had made previously, I added some color to the crocus flowers and was pleased with the result.

And, I made a happy sloth waving hello. 

 

Enjoy the beautiful, early spring flowers and, like the sloth, "Hang In There", warm days will soon be here! 

Love bugs

Using my little carved stamps, I printed Valentine's Day cards and a dish towel. I love making simple designs.

Along with Valentine's Day, this week's calendar includes the Lunar New Year, Mardi Gras, and the Super Bowl. Whichever you celebrate, enjoy!
